Community Supported Agriculture

Elmwood Stock Farm, Community Supported Agriculture 2006 Season - "Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members participate in their own food supply by committing to share in the harvest of a local farm. Members purchase shares in the spring, and each week receive seasonal vegetables: a subscription to the farm's weekly harvest."

Note to Jen: It looks like the "mini" membership is $265 per season (22 weeks).

Red River Gorge Pictures

I actually upadated the photoblog thing with pictures from the Red River Gorge trip today.

The average size for a photo is 90k so they may take awhile to load.

Here's the quicklinks for my Red River Gorge Pictures:

My Photo Lab Take 1

I'm trying to set up a small place to take photos even when it's night time.

I want to do it cheap, so I found an old desk swivel light in the closet and set up a few pieces of paper for my background and tested things out.

I was also using a standard 100 watt GE light bulb, which doesn't work well. In fact I believe that normal light bulbs give off a yellow tint, which isn't very noticeable until you photograph it.

A few pictures turned out alright, however the yellow tint was unbearable. Here's example 1:

But here's another shot, notice the awful yellow tint:

And here's the most basic setup you can come by:

So I believe I will get some poster board to make a better background and definitely look into alternatives for lighting. Here is the lighting style recommended (500watt ect bulb) in this diy photo tutorial.

I'm not sure about ordering one, but I may see what the grocery store has to offer sometime this week.

Fans of The Office

Be glad you don't live in central Kentucky:

WLEX DECLINES TO SHOW THE OFFICE

"Lexington's NBC affiliate, WLEX-18, declined to air last night's episode of The Office. The sitcom, starring Steve Carell, was considered "too graphic" to air, WLEX President and General Manager Tim Gilbert said last night. The episode, titled "Sexual Harassment," was replaced by the entertainment news show Extra. Gilbert said the station asked for a preview copy of the episode after learning of its strong viewer advisory."

Hopefully it's not gone for good.

RSS for Jen

Jen has a computer on our home network separate from mine. Jen didn't have a blog feed reader before today.

Every time I've found an interesting article on the web she might be interested in I must write it down or email it to her. I'm not a fan of email.

This blog was set up with RSS feeds for each tag. The reasoning behind this was to let people subscribe to a post category that interests them, instead of being forced to consume all of the main feed, if they choose.

So, today I installed a blog reader on Jen's computer and subscribed to the feed markwielgus.com/rss/jen

Now when I find interesting things Jen might also be interested in, I can bookmark them for myself, tag them with jen also, and she will read the new post along with any other blogs she decides to subscribe to.

This will also provide me with a history of links I've suggested to her.

This post is the first test of our system. Hello!
